Robert J. Reynolds

Robert J Reynolds Bob Reynolds grew up in Belleville, Ontario, graduating from Moira Secondary School as an Ontario Scholar .He did his degree work at the University of Toronto, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Studies and Statistics in 1971. He obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax in 1974 where he was voted Life President of his graduating class.

After law school, Bob joined in establishing the firm that has now become Reynolds O'Brien LLP in 1976. While practicing law, Bob went back to school obtaining his Master of Laws from Queens University in 1982.

Bob has a wealth of experience in civil litigation. He was certified as a specialist in this field in 1991 and has held that designation continuously since that time. Bob deals with a broad range of complex litigation, ranging from constitutional, commercial and property disputes through matters of employment and labour law to actions for damages for personal injury arising from car accidents and medical malpractice. His practice includes trials and other hearings before the Superior Court of Justice and civil and criminal appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He has also appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada.

James F. O'Brien

James F O'BrienJim has practiced in Belleville, Ontario, since 1971, joining the firm as a partner in 1994. He has an extensive practice in Real Estate, Wills and Estates as well as Corporate and Business matters. He also provides Mediation Services under the heading "Civil Solutions".

A native of Belleville, Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Patrick's College, Ottawa in 1966 and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 1969. He also holds Dispute Resolution Certificates from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law.

Jim has held several positions with the Ontario Bar Association , including President. He is a Director and Past President of the Hastings Law Association and has served the Law Society of Ontario in various capacities. In 2004, Jim received the Distinguished Service Award from the Ontario Bar Association. He also served for many years as Chair of the Advancement of Legal Education and Research Trust ("ALERT") now the Ontario Bar Foundation.

For several years,  Jim acted as Chair of the Board of Management of the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area and was a member of the Mayor's Taskforce on Downtown Belleville.

Janet M. Kline

Janet M KlineJanet Kline, the firm's Managing Partner, represents clients in all aspects of residential and commercial and real property transactions, including purchases, sales, mortgages, leases, conveyances and severances. She provides assistance to the firm's litigation lawyers in all real property matters. Janet is an approved Royal Lepage Relocation Lawyer for DND and OPP employee relocations.

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Janet received her Bachelor of Arts(Magna Cum Laude) from Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax in 1971. She was also class valedictorian and recipient of the Governor's General's Medal for highest standing in her graduating class. Janet graduated in 1974 from Dalhousie Law School with her law degree and was one of the founding partners of what is now Reynolds O'Brien, LLP.

Janet is a regular speaker at the pre marriage course offered by Quinte area Catholic Churches where she advises young couples on issues of importance to them. She is a member of St. Michael's Church in Belleville where she is a lay reader and eucharistic minister.

A runner, Janet has completed numerous short course runs and both the Mississauga and Picton Half-Marathons.

Isak Feuer

I Isak FeuerIsak Feuer joined the firm in 1991 as an associate. He became a partner in 2002.

Over the years, Isak has developed a practice in Family Law with a special emphasis on child welfare and child protection issues. He has become one of the region's foremost advocates for the preservation of the bond between parent and child.

Isak received his early education in Toronto, graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Applied Science (Engineering). He worked in the private sector for several years before going to law school. Isak graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1989. Upon completion of his articles with a major Toronto law firm, Isak decided that big city life was not for him and moved to the Quinte area.

Lennox O. Picart

Lennox O PicartLennox Picart has been with the firm since 2001. Lennox practices criminal and family law as well as general civil litigation. He also represents clients with respect to CPP disability pension claims and Ontario Disability Support claims.

Lennox graduated from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in 1989 with a degree in Economics and History. He received his Master of Arts in History from the University of New Brunswick in 1993 and his law degree from Dalhousie Law School in 1997.

Lennox is a resident of Belleville. He is a former Director of the Hastings County Law Association and is a member of the Ontario Bar Association. Lennox coaches minor league football and is an avid golfer.

Ian D. Kirby

Ian D Kirby Ian Kirby was born and raised in Belleville, graduating from Centennial Secondary School.

Ian's post secondary education commenced by attending Carleton University in Ottawa to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Law. After completing his first degree, he obtained his Diploma in Business Marketing from Algonquin College while concurrently completing Alternative Dispute Resolution certificates, including an Advanced Mediation certificate administered through Waterloo University. With an aspiration for the study of law, Ian furthered his education by attending law school.

Ian completed his Juris Doctor in law at Bond University with a specialization in Corporate Law.

Ian's experience varies. As an associate lawyer with Reynolds O'Brien LLP for over 10 years, his practice focuses on: Family Law, Real Estate and Corporate Law.

Ian continues to be a competitive athlete in Belleville, participating in various competitive sports.

Ian serves as a director on the board of the Hastings County Law Association.

Janet VanVolkenburg

Janet VanVolkenburgJanet VanVolkenburg is a Licensed Paralegal and has been at Reynolds O’Brien LLP since February 2011 as their in house Paralegal and is responsible for Small Claims Court and Landlord Tenant Board matters as well as providing support to the firm lawyers as required.

Janet grew up in Frankford and is married with 3 children and 2 beautiful granddaughters. She volunteered for many years at Frankford Public School where she also taught piano and voice lessons and was the Co-Chair of the School Council for 4 years. In 2003, Janet was the recipient of the Violence Awareness & Random Acts of Kindness Citizen of the Year Award and has been an active volunteer with many local non-profit organizations.

Janet graduated on the Dean’s List from Loyalist College in June, 2011 with a Paralegal Diploma and was the recipient of the Centre for Justice Studies Paralegal Program Faculty Award for Superior Attitude, Academics and Aptitude in the Paralegal Program. She was the past Chair of the Paralegal Advisory Committee at Loyalist College and is an occasional guest speaker in the Paralegal Program.
